| I started getting migraines for
no apparent reason in 1990 when we were living in Perth. I saw
numerous different doctors and specialists without success,
followed by homoepaths, masseurs, a dentist specialising in
jaws, a hypnotist, an acupuncturist, a chinese doctor to name
a few.
In 1997 we moved to Albany. I did the rounds of GPs
without success and below is a list of specialists that I've
seen since 1998. In the meantime the migraines were becoming
more frequent and I often ended up in Albany Hospital for
pethidine and sometimes morphine injections.
1998 A physician who put me on high doses of Riboflavin and
occipital node injections
1999 A migraine specialist who recommended that I take 6
disprin as soon as the migraine started. This didn't make
any differnce.
1999 A clinical psychologist - the migraines continued as
before.
2000 A neurologist diagnosed migraine without aura. Drugs
I tried whilst under his care, methysergide, inderal, indocid
suppositories, asprin, zantac, nasal imigran, sandomigran
and 50mg imigran. A few days in the Mount Hospital for observation. The
only drugs that were effective were imigran and I started
using 3 to 4 of these per week. This was obviously far too
many as the doctor.recommended a max of 4 per month.
February 2000 A gynaecologist suggested that the reason for
my migraines was a hormone imbalance and gave me an HRT implant
which turned septic and had to be removed at great cost and
a lot of pain.
September 2000 Another specialist. I can't remember this
treatment but it was not successful.
March 2001 Another neurologist. Again, I can't remember the
treatment but I do remember that it was not successful.
Around this time I went back on the alternative medicine
roundabout this time in Albany. I was taking 3 to 4 imigran
a week and and still getting an occasional shot of pethidine
or morphine at the hospital.
October 2002 a pain specialist recommended I see Chris Semmens
clinical psychologist.
After one session with Chris I was very sceptical tapping
my nose, hand and chest but things started to improve almost
immediatly and have continued to do so. I find it very hard
to believe that after 14 years I am finally cured without
taking any medication whatsoever. I still have a very occasional
migraine but with a 'bit of tapping' here and there it is
soon gone.Thank you Chris, you've given me back my life.Linda
