From the mouths of babes
An inspiring story about TFT and traumatised kids
FROM THE TFTAU NEWSLETTER MAY2009

I am a clinical psychologist in Los Angeles, specializing in working with kids with all kinds of problems.

So, my new kid is 10, with one of “those” histories that has everything including multiple foster home placements, horrible family of origin with all kinds of abuse.

Anyhow his new foster mom has been bringing him in to see me, and we have done some tapping about a variety of things including guilt, anger, trauma, abandonment.

And, when he broke something in my office, embarrasment and shame.

Well, they came in and he had been in just an awful awful mood with awful behavior to match. In the reception room he was downcast, Mom said she did not think that they would be able to stay for the session.

I neared the boy and asked if I could just tap on the side of his hand, there was barely a nod of his head, and he allowed me to take his hand.

I just did SH (Psychological Reversal correction).
Then asked him to add UN, IF (tap under the nose then index finger).

The head came up.

I said he seemed like he needed more tapping, would he be willing to come into the office, which he did.

Without asking what had happened, of course, I just asked him to focus on the events of the day, and tapped for trauma, adding guilt and rage.  It worked like a charm.

Full visual contact plus a little smile.
I told him I wanted to test him to see if what he said and how he looked regarding feeling better was really true.

I did some muscle testing.
He was instantly charmed and hooked.
He ran to get his mom.
Look, Look!!!!
He tested her just as I had tested him (these kids are such quick learners).

She herself was completely amazed, he explained, “Mom, the body never lies”.  “I want to show Dad”.

We completed a very successful session.
Mom was so grateful, relieved, and amazed.
He was glad to be feeling better.
Kids get it. Absolutely.

Footnote:

Something happened a few days later to trigger a 'melt down' but  in all his distress he remembered to do the tapping and all is now well!

Amazing children!!
